Full-Time Senior Executive, Library Information & Services – SOTA

Job Description

Reporting to the Senior Manager (Library Information & Services), the Senior Executive will support the library team in developing the use of library resources, collection and facilities to support the curriculum and/or information needs of library users. The Senior Executive will also assist the Senior Manager (Library Information & Services) in some aspects of planning.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

Operations:
1. Supervise and perform daily operations of the library
2. Oversee management of Library Management System, resources and facilities within the library
3. Monitor utilization and initiate enhancements to library services
4. Prepare and update standards, and policies and procedures for operational efficiency

Collection Development & Maintenance:
1. Work with teachers to maintain a useful, relevant and current collection for staff and students
2. Work with the library team in cataloguing library materials
3. Assist in coordinating budget and expenditure of library funds for library materials and subscriptions
4. Conduct stocktake exercise

Reference & Advisory:
1. Provide reference advisory services and research support for staff and students
2. Support the information literacy and user education needs for staff and students
3. Provide information literacy and user education for users to enable them to search and evaluate information
4. Provide loan and enquiry services to users
5. Respond to enquiries from all users via all communication platforms, not limited to phone calls and emails
6. Locate sources of information from all related library resources
Programme & Display: 1. Prepare newsletters and other publicity to reach out to users 2. Assist in planning and implementing programmes to raise awareness of library resources and services, and usage
3. Work with teachers to showcase faculty works in the library

Others:
1. Any ad-hoc duties as required by Reporting Officer, Management or the School.

Job Specification

  • Degree, preferably in library-related disciplines, with at least 2 – 3 years relevant experience in a library
  • Knowledge of Dewey Decimal Classification, Microsoft Office applications, information search skills and cataloguing skills
  • Ability to work independently, as well as in a team with excellent interpersonal and communication skills • Good multi-tasking, problem-solving, and organizational skills would be advantageous
  • Ability to develop and maintain good relations with students, teachers and staff
