Job Description

The Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine, a partnership between Nanyang Technological University (NTU) and Imperial College London, will train a generation of doctors who will put patients at the centre of their exemplary medical care. Graduates of the five-year undergraduate medical degree programme that begins in 2013 will have a strong understanding of the scientific basis of medicine, along with interdisciplinary subjects including business management, humanities and technology.

The School’s primary clinical partner is the National Healthcare Group, a leader in public healthcare recognised for the quality of its medical expertise, facilities and teaching. The School, named after local philanthropist Tan Sri Dato Lee Kong Chian, aims to be a future model for innovative medical education. Its first doctors will graduate in 2018 with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS), awarded jointly by NTU and Imperial College London, and become doctors who will enhance Singapore’s healthcare in the decades to come.

Medical Librarian
We are seeking an experienced Librarian who is energetic, resourceful, flexible and has a passion for instruction. This is a position with broad and diverse duties encompassing operational and informational roles. The Librarian must have a strong interest in working in an academic setting with students, faculty, and researchers. This position is reporting to the Head, Medical Library and will be based in Novena Campus.

Responsibilities:
• Manages all aspects of the daily operations of the Medical Library and Heritage Centre including supervising support staff.
• Strong potential to lead collection development efforts in health sciences subjects.
• Delivers library search services which include literature searches and systematic reviews.
• Motivated to engage users from a dual campus model and a highly mobile student population.
• Maintain current knowledge of the trends and issues in library development, higher education, scholarly communication, online education, education technologies and research practices.
• Strong interest in information technology, instructional technology, electronic resources, and multimedia resources and services in the health sciences.
• Participates in school-wide projects and initiatives as assigned.

Qualifications :
• Applicants must have a good bachelor’s degree preferably in Science or Biology. Library-related qualifications will be advantageous. Candidates with a Masters in Information Science (or equivalent) may be appointed at a higher grade.
• More than 3 years of experience in a Library or information management organization. Work experience in an academic or health institution will be advantageous.
• Demonstrated experience in providing library instruction.
• Proficiency in the use of technology and social media.
