Job Description

The National Art Gallery, Singapore is a new visual arts institution which will contribute to building Singapore as a regional and international hub for visual arts. It will focus on the display, appreciation, promotion, research and study of Southeast Asian and Singaporean art, as well as play host to international art exhibitions.

Situated in the heart of the Civic District, the City Hall and adjacent former Supreme Court building – two important heritage buildings symbolic of Singapore’s nationhood – will be converted to house this exciting new visual arts venue. Slated to officially open in 2015, The Gallery will be a leading civic and cultural destination established for the enrichment, enjoyment and engagement of Singapore residents and visitors from all over the world.

Manager (Resource Centre)

  • Build up the Resource Centre’s archive through collaborations with artists, artist families, art collectors, archives and galleries in Singapore and the region;
  • Maintain the holdings of the Prints and Drawings Study Collection;
  • Assisting in the evaluation of potential acquisitions/donations of material to both Collections;
  • Project manager of digitisation projects in collaboration with the curators;
  • Handle enquiries from curators or external researchers about the Prints and Drawings Study Collection;
  • Supervise on-site consultation of archival resources;
  • Facilitating the move and set-up of the new Resource Centre and Prints and Drawings Room (which includes fumigation and conservation of the collection; barcoding etc.);
  • Work closely with curators on exhibitions with archival components;
  • Participate in policy development


  • Masters degree in art history/humanities/social sciences/Library Sciences/Conservation
  • 4 to 6 years’ working experience in a reference library or archive
  • Willingness to travel in Southeast Asia for the purpose of building up the archive
  • Expertise and working experience in the handling of archival materials would be advantageous
  • Fluency Southeast Asian languages would be advantageous
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Integrity
  • Good writing, communication, administrative skills
  • Other skills: Microsoft Word, Excel
