Job Description

Responsibilities

As a Manager (Information Systems & E-Services) with the Library, your responsibilities will include but are not limited to the following:

• Provide leadership in identifying, evaluating, selecting, and implementing of appropriate new information systems and technologies;
• Provide leadership and guidance to Systems Analysts and Technical Support Officers;
• Improve links with other sections to streamline operations and services;
• Harness latest IT developments and monitor trends in Library user needs with a view to modify services, systems and system designs accordingly;
• Participate in Library’s strategic social media and digital initiatives, which includes monitoring/analysis of social media trends and the development of innovative web pages/web analytics;
• Supervise team in the administration, development and maintenance of Library Management System, OPAC and Discovery System, which includes server OS, backup administration and desktop/PC administration;
• Supervise team in the development and implementation of Library IT services to support the teaching and learning environment;
• Manage vendor relations to ensure effective and efficient resolution of problems and implementation of new requirements; and
• Participate in counter shift duties to provide transactional and enquiry services.

Requirements

• Minimum five years’ relevant experience in IT project implementation and management
• Experience in the administration of Windows desktop and server OS in domain environment and Windows System Utilities
• Proficient in ASP.NET Web programming, Javascript, HTML, CSS, Web publishing, Microsoft SQL Server 2008 or later, Oracle PL/SQL stored procedure and database structure
• Proficient in using Facebook, Twitter, MySpace and other social media for publicity and marketing of library activities/resources
• Knowledge and experience in the following would be an advantage:

• Adobe PhotoShop, Flash, Fireworks, Adobe Captivate
• Library-related standards, such as z39.50, OpenURL, SIP2 protocol, OAI and MARC21, and Microsoft SharePoint 2010 or later
• Microsoft Visual Web Developer or Adobe Dreamweaver
• Mobile application programming for iOS and Android
• Red Hat Linux, IIS/Apache webservers, Apache Tomcat, OpenSSL and other middleware technologies
• Supporting IT in an academic Library
