Full-Time Library Specialist – SIT Library


Job Description

The successful candidate is responsible for assisting the Division in matters relating to circulation, information and collection services. He/she is also responsible for supervising staff at the service desk.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform Service Desk duties including circulation matters and handling first level user enquiries
  • Manage service desk staff (includes rostering and training)
  • Manage and maintain the Library space
  • Provide support for interlibrary loan and document delivery services
  • Support acquisition functions including purchasing, licensing, receiving, claiming, processing, copy cataloging, assembling courses readings, and facilitating access and delivery of resources
  • Assist in the development of promotional materials and webpage updates
  • Assist in the collation and compilation of library statistics
  • Assist in Library projects and events


  • Degree from a good University or Polytechnic Diploma preferably in Library studies
  • Proven track record with at least 3 years of experience, preferably in an academic library
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite programmes, especially Excel
  • Experience working with Integrated Library Management Systems
  • Experience in supervising staff
  • A team player who is resourceful, detail-oriented and able to multi-task
  • Good oral, written and communication and interpersonal skills
  • Able to work to tight deadlines
