Job Description

The National Institute of Education, an Institute of the Nanyang Technological University and the sole teacher education training Institute in Singapore, invites suitable applications for the position of Librarian / Senior Librarian (Research and Instructional Services) in the NIE Library and Information Services Centre. We are seeking a creative, self-directed and service-oriented candidate who is able to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic environment.

This position provides information and instructional services, develops content for the library portal and digital repository and coordinates outreach initiatives to meet the teaching, learning and research needs of the NIE community.

Requirements
• A good University degree and a postgraduate qualification in Library and/or Information Science, preferably with teaching experience and working knowledge of library portals and digital repositories in an academic library environment
• Good interpersonal, communication and organisational skills
• Strong customer service orientation
• Keen learner who is adaptable and able to work independently and in a team
• Strong IT skills, including proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint
• Ability to analyse and derive insights from statistical reports and usage data
• Experience in procurement process (invitation to quote/tender/writing proposals) will be an added advantage

Responsibilities
• Collaborate with academic and library staff to plan, develop, deliver and assess instructional and outreach programmes
• Collaborate with academic and library staff to increase awareness about scholarly communication issues in the digital environment
• Participate in content development for the library portal to facilitate access to library resources and services
• Participate in content recruitment for the digital repository, including setting standards for digitisation of resources and creation of metadata
• Participate in collection development, including identifying, evaluating and recommending library resources
• Provide information desk services on scheduled evenings and weekends
• Supervise and manage team members
• Collaborate in library projects, peer training and staff development
• Serve as a liaison officer to foster communication between the Library and designated Academic Groups
