Job Description


The National Institute of Education invites suitable applications for the position of Librarian / Senior Librarian in the Library and Information Services Centre. We are seeking creative, innovative and service-oriented candidates who are able to work independently and collaboratively in transforming the library for the 21st century.

This position provides subscription services, develops the Library’s monograph collection, and serves as a library liaison to meet the teaching, learning and research needs of the NIE community.


  • A University degree and a postgraduate qualification in Library and/or Information Science, preferably with at least 2 years of working knowledge of acquisitions or serials in an academic library environment
  • Familiar with using an electronic resources management platform to manage the entire life-cycle of electronic resources
  • Good interpersonal, communication and organisational skills
  • Strong customer service orientation
  • Keen learner who is adaptable and able to work independently and in a team
  • Tech savvy with strong analytical, troubleshooting and problem solving skills
  • Ability to analyse and derive insights from data analytics & statistical reports and usage data
  • Experience in government Invitation to Quote/tendering/writing proposals will be an added advantage


Key Responsibilities

  • Manage workflow and processes for the subscription of continuing resources and acquisition of monograph materials
  • Renew subscription of library resources in a timely manner
  • Maintain accurate timely holdings data in the Library’s knowledge bases and other systems
  • Manage the binding of library materials
  • Harvest, collate and analyse usage statistics of library resources
  • Work collaboratively with project and functional teams to implement and promote new initiatives
  • Supervise and manage team members
  • Participate in collection development, including identifying, evaluating and recommending library resources

General and liaison duties

  • Provide information desk services on scheduled evenings and weekends
  • Foster communication between the Library and designated Academic Groups
  • Liaise with designated Academic Groups to recruit content for the data and digital repositories
  • Collaborate with academic and library staff to plan, deliver and assess instructional and outreach programmes
  • Contribute to library projects, peer training and staff development
