Job Description

Role and Responsibilities

Library Services
• Develop, manage and maintain convenient, accessible, updated and cost-effective library and information services for the Singapore campus. Establish and update library and information policies and procedures in line with S P Jain policies and communicate to users on regular basis. Review licensing agreements of digital resources and academic resources utilized by the School. Ensure adherence to non-violation of copyright issues by the Institution.
• Responsible for management of library web site including design, content management, user access rights etc. Maintain and enhance the digital library on regular basis. Monitor and track usage of e-data bases, conduct annual user satisfaction and feedback survey. Identify and evaluate available e-data bases and recommend appropriate suggestions to management. Monitor and track library loan service for books, CD, audiovisual materials etc and maintain records.
• Monitor and track the budget for library and information services, technology and media and generate periodic report. Prepare periodic reports related to library and information services. Maintain accurate and updated library resources inventory and oversee storage and maintenance of library assets.
• Circulate relevant resources with students and faculty and update the Library web site. Proactively identify faculty research and teaching interest area and disseminate information to them on a weekly basis.
• Co-ordinate purchase of all materials such as text books, reference books, cases and any other related material. Maintain orders placed by faculty, students and other users. Co-ordinate with suppliers and negotiate price terms to ensure cost effective purchasing. Order materials and maintain records for payment of invoices.
• Assist students / users in accessing library resources in Singapore. Design and deliver library information sessions and user orientation programs on a regular basis. Train library users to effectively search the library catalogue, Internet and other electronic resources. Co-ordinate the user training for Thompson Reuter’s terminal.

General Books Administration
• To own the physical library assets and reconcile the physical inventory with electronic records and report on a monthly basis.
• To process requests for books from the Program Office and ensure smooth execution.
• Perform other related duties assigned from time to time.

Qualifications and Education Requirements
• A Postgraduate degree in Library Sciences.
• 3-5 year’s relevant experience in managing state-of-art physical and digital library in a leading international academic institution.

Preferred Skills
• Good understanding of library policies, procedures, methods and professional standards.
• Hands-on experience in administration and management of digital and physical library systems such as cataloguing, classification, acquisitions and searching.
• Good communication, interpersonal and leadership skills.
• Knowledge and experience of OCLC AACR, DDC, Marc21, Unimarc and automated library systems will be essential
• Innovative, proactive, team worker, adaptability to foreign cultures, good interpersonal and communication skills.
• Develop and deliver information literacy and research skills programs, and the development of online tutorials or subject guides.
• Lead selecting, Renewing and Negotiating E-Resources, licensing agreements.
• Lead class room teaching and workshops on Information Literacy, Literature Searching, Graduate Students skills and Database Instructions (All major Business management and full-text resources).
