The death of Ms Beh is a huge loss to me. It was a privilege to work under her from January to June 1992. I was employed to convert the existing RELC Library’s card catalogue into their newly purchased Library Integrated System. She was more than a mere employer as she went the extra mile to make sure everyone around her was well taken care of. She never looked at us as just employees. She was the one who encouraged me to take up English courses to improve myself and even insisted that I take small breaks during the office hours when I was pregnant.
Even though I was only under her for 6 months, she visited me when I had my first new born and celebrated my birthday with the office staff. She insisted we spend time with our families and never allowed us to stay and work after office hours. Even after I had left RELC, she still remembered my family and enquired about my children whenever we met up later.
