Following the successful 2017 Forum #Call to Action: Fake News, Misinformation and Post Truth, we cordially invite you to hear speakers such as Dr Gulizar Haciyakupoglu, Research Fellow, Centre of Excellence for National Security (CENS), S. Rajaratnam School of International Studies (RSIS), Nanyang Technological University (NTU);  Edwin Tong, Senior Minister of State, Ministry of Law & Ministry of Health ; Michael Genkin, Assistant Professor of Sociology, School of Social Sciences, SMU; Lim Sun Sun, Professor and Head of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences, SUTD; Zakir Hussain, News Editor, The Straits Times; Zhu Feida, Associate Professor of Information Systems, School of Information Systems, SMU, together with social media representatives from Google and Twitter.

Fast forward today, a lot has happened around fake news, online falsehoods, and misinformation on social media and our daily lives.   Has social media polarised us? Is truth the new currency? Who is responsible? Where do they stand? And what are they doing about it?

Panellists in this segment include academics, think tank and government representatives who will discuss the citizenry and their notions of truth and online falsehood. The need for legislation will also be debated and discussed.

Panellists in this segment will include representatives from business (social media and publishing) who will discuss their roles and efforts in advocacy and education in building or establishing trust.
