Research on Nantah has been a hot topic in Chinese Oversea Studies, especially in Southeast Asia but relevant resources are dispersed and not easily accessible. To facilitate research on Nantah, Nanyang Technological University (NTU) Libraries initiated this research project in 2006 when a group of Chinese librarians started working on collecting, organizing and pointing readers to relevant records.

It has been a decade of collaborative research with considerable effort spent in tracing, collecting, verifying, and presenting records. In the first phase in June 2015, 15,000 records were uploaded. These include monographs, book chapters, journal articles, conference papers, newspaper articles, thesis, Internet resources, audio-visual materials, government documents, and etc. It is worth mentioning that it covers many primary resources, such as 380 government documents, 298 oral history interviews, and 71 films and broadcasts. The original sources are not only from NTU Libraries, but also from other local libraries and institutions: National University of Singapore (NUS), National Library Board (NLB) and National Archives of Singapore (NAS). Most records were verified with detailed locations and call numbers indicated for easier references. The time coverage ranges  from the early 1950s to the present. Bilingual keywords in English & Chinese describe each record in depth. Users can browse by types or do keywords search by title, author, subject, publisher, date, and more. Facet filters are available for users to refine search results, and users can email or print the search results.
