November 2011 Update

For the month of November there are various events that is happening in town.  First of all there is the iPRES2011 Conference – which is the 8th International Conference on Preservation of Digital Objects.  This will run from 1st to 4th November at the National Library Building in Singapore.  Members who will be attending this event are also invited to do a short summary write up so that we can share information with the rest of Singapore Librarians who may not be able to make it to the event.  For details of this event, please see http://ipres2011.sg/ 

On 2nd November 2011, UBS Library Services is organising an Exhibition and Fair covering various of the services that they provide at The Grassroot Club.  This event will run from 11am till 8pm.  For details, you can check out http://www.ubspress.com/events/ .

 The Infohost Group is organising a User Group Meeting on 4th November 2011 at Orchard Hotel from 8.30 a.m. to 2.00 p.m.  They had offered 10 slots for LAS members on a first come first served basis.  Members who will be attending this event are also invited to write a summary for publication in Singapore Libraries Bulletin.

On the 9th of November,  our Special Libraries Section will be having their 2nd annual gathering – this time it will be held at the Li Ka Shing Library  in Singapore Management University (SMU).  The event is not restricted to LAS members – but please RSVP +65 6349 0110 or  e-mail  help.sg@lexisnexis.com with organizers by 2nd November 2011.  This event is scheduled to run from 5.15 p.m. till 9.00 p.m.

 Congratulations are in order for our friends in Brunei,  as the Brunei Darussalam Library Association celebrates its 25th anniversary.  It will be holding a conference from 30 November till 2nd December with a Book & ICT fair that runs from 28 November till the conference ends.

The Univeristy of Macau (UM) Library  in conjunction with UM’s 30th Anniversary will hold a 1-day conference on “Library Building and the Effective Use of its Space” on the 1st December 2011.  For details please see https://library.umac.mo/html/events/conference2011/index.html .
