LAS Outstanding Librarian Award 2007

Sponsored by Thomson Scientific

Dear LAS members

On 28 Sep, we invited you to nominate members who have contributed to LAS and the profession for 5 years or more for the LAS Outstanding Librarian Award 2007. On the day of closing on 8 Oct, at 12 noon, we received one nomination from Mr Lai Yeen Pong, who nominated Mrs Hedwig Anuar for the award.

The LAS Council evaluated the nomination, and decided that based on Mrs Anuar's very significant contributions to LAS and the profession, it would be more appropriate to accord her a new LAS Lifetime Contribution Award.

LAS will honour her at the launch of the Singapore Library Week on 1 Nov. The award will be presented to her by the Guest of Honour at the launch ceremony, and a video on her will be produced for the launch.

LAS will continue to present the Lifetime Contribution Award and the LAS Outstanding Librarian Award to deserving members. It is likely that we will invite nominations for the LAS Outstanding Librarian Award on a yearly basis, while the Lifetime Contribution Award will be awarded as and when we have a suitable candidate.

On behalf of the Council, I thank you for your support.

Regards,

Ngian Lek Choh
President, LAS

Mrs Hedgwig Anuar received the LAS Lifetime Contribution Award from
Dr Lee Boon Yang, accompanied by Ms Ngian Lek Choh.
